The Spider Man
I get an email newsletter from my wedding photographer and it talks about an art show with her friend, Caroline. There is a picture of Caroline and her husband and I see that she is no longer beautiful and looks old with gray hair. I click on the link to their website and see a video where they talk about how they always draw unwanted attention when they use their horse drawn carriage around town. The “carriage” is dark blue and enclosed and reminds me of a garbage truck/cyber truck. The video shows them using it to take out the trash and recycling. It’s obvious to me that they actually do want attention but are just pretending that they don’t. Then suddenly I am at their house. They have an old garage space with unique, bas-relief, tiled murals that they brought back from Mexico. There are many spiders in the garage and Caroline’s husband warns me, “Watch out for the ‘Spider Man’ spider,” referring to a large spider in a web hanging down from in the middle of the ceiling. I avoid the Spider Man but Caroline brushes away other spider webs carelessly and causes a spider to fall on me. The spider bites me twice on my right hand and it is very painful. My perceptive shifts to further away from the house and I notice that the house is all white while the garden has a lot of mauve colored flowers. This color contrast along with the garage murals is striking to me, each area is a different artistic style.
