On the edge between exhilaration and loss of control

My daughter and I are riding in her friend’s dad’s convertible. He’s driving, my daughter is in the front passenger seat and I’m behind her in the backseat. She’s wearing a seatbelt but I’m not. We go around a tight curve and then it turns into a spiral with wood paneled walls. He goes faster and faster around the curve and I remember that he loves driving fast around curves—this is like his hobby. He seems on the edge of skilled driver/out of control. I feel both safe and trusting and also aware that he may lose control and the car may flip. We go faster and I am brushing up against the paneling. The walls are keeping me from falling out of the car. Thankfully my daughter has her seatbelt on and stays in her seat. As we exit the spiral, without turning around, the driver reaches back and grabs my hand to pull me back into the car. I feel cared for. I feel relief and exhilaration.
